Baseball Swept by Lebanon Valley in MAC Commonwealth Doubleheader

READING, Pa. – The Albright baseball team dropped a pair of MAC Commonwealth contests to Lebanon Valley at Kelchner Field on Saturday.
 
With the losses, the Lions fall to 0-8 in conference and 1-28 overall. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen improve to 7-3 in conference and 19-12 overall.
 
GAME ONE
Albright was shut down by Lebanon Valley 14-0 in game one. The Dutchmen had their bats ringing early with five hits to notch three runs and open up their scoring in the top of the first. Lebanon Valley then added two runs to their lead in the third and four runs in the fourth to grasp a quick 9-0 lead. Lebanon Valley smashed a homer in the sixth to fuel two more runs in the sixth and capped off their scoring in the eighth the same way they started, with three runs on five hits to solidify a commanding 14-0 victory in game one.
 
Dan Stofko (1-6) receives the loss on the pitching mound for the Lions in game one behind 4.0 innings pitched and 24 batters faced.
 
GAME TWO
Albright was defeated 15-2 in the second game of the MAC Commonwealth doubleheader with Lebanon Valley. The Dutchmen opened their scoring in the top of the second with five runs behind three hits and one error to claim an early lead once again. Lebanon Valley added one run to their lead in the top of the fourth to claim a 6-0 advantage. Albright finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth behind a Billy Bean home run. The Lions chances of coming back faded in the top of the seventh, however, as the Dutchmen tallied a dominant seven runs behind four hits and one error to take a 13-1 lead. Albright added just one more run on the day in the bottom of the eighth behind a home run from Jon O'Connor. Lebanon Valley solidified their victory in the top of the ninth with two more runs to claim a 15-2 victory in game two.
 
Hayden Paukstis (0-4) receives the loss for the Lions in game two behind 4.0 innings pitched and 23 batters faced. O'Connor led the Lions offense in game two with two hits and one RBI on three at bats.
 
Albright will return to MAC Commonwealth action on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. as they travel to Widener.
