READING, Pa. – The Albright softball team was shut down in two MAC Commonwealth contests at the top-seeded Messiah on Wednesday.
With the pair of losses, the Lions fall to 2-8 in conference and 3-21 overall. Meanwhile, the Falcons improve to 8-2 in conference and 20-10 overall.
GAME ONE
Albright was shut out 7-0 by Messiah in game one. The Falcons took an early lead in the bottom of the first with three runs behind three hits and two errors. Messiah extended their lead to five in the bottom half of the third with two runs on three hits. The Falcons then solidified their win in the bottom half of the sixth with two final runs on three hits to claim the 7-0 victory in game one.

GAME TWO
Messiah kept their momentum in game two with a 9-0 victory over Albright. The Falcons got off to an early start once again with two runs behind four hits in the bottom half of the opening frame. Messiah added one run to their lead in the bottom of the second behind two hits. The Falcons posted a big offensive performance in the third with six runs behind five hits and one error to grasp a commanding 9-0 lead. The Lions were unable to put together an offensive sequence of their own as the Falcons held onto their 9-0 lead through the fifth inning to solidify the win.

The Lions will return to the Albright College Softball Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader against Hood.
