OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Despite a strong start, the Albright women's lacrosse team was outlasted 17-7 at Stevenson in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 1-5 in conference and 3-12 overall. Meanwhile, the Mustangs improve to 5-1 in conference and 10-5 overall.

Abigail Hai fueled the Lions offense with three points apiece on two goals and one assist. Senior
Abbie Moist grabbed a team-high four ground balls for Albright.
Stevenson notched the first goal of the game at the 11:59-mark to claim the early lead. Albright got on the board and tied the game at one as junior
Chloe Fornoff found the back of the net off an eight-meter shot at the 7:32-mark. Stevenson jumped back in front with a free-position goal, but sophomore
Kyra Lycett answered with an eight-meter goal of her own to cap off the opening frame and tie the game at two.
The Mustangs jumped back in front at the 11:04-mark of the second stanza, but a free-position goal from Patrick tied the game once more at three. Stevenson controlled the pace throughout the rest of the first half with three unanswered goals to grasp a 4-3 lead entering the break.
Stevenson came out of the half firing away as they continued their run with five-straight scores to claim a commanding 11-3 advantage. Hai finally snapped the run with an assist from Patrick at the 5:12-mark. Patrick then tallied a free-position goal at the 1:54-mark, cutting the Lions deficit to 11-5. The Mustangs capped off the third with back-to-back scores just 24 seconds apart to hold a 13-5 lead entering the fourth.
The Mustangs found the back of the net off an eight-meter shot at the 10:20-mark to extend their lead to nine. Moist and Hai found the back of the net on back-to-back scores for the Lions to get within seven. Unfortunately for Albright, Stevenson continued with their scoring ways and capped off the game on a 3-0 run to solidify their 17-7 victory.
Stevenson held a 36-27 shot advantage over Albright. Meanwhile, the Lions won the battle for ground balls 18-12. First-year goalkeeper
Caelainn Morrison receives the loss for Albright with six saves in 60 minutes of action while Sophie Shucosky earns the win for the Mustangs with 14 saves in the full amount of play.
Albright will return to Shirk Stadium on Wednesday at 4 p.m. as they host local MAC Commonwealth rival Alvernia.
