READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 MAC Commonwealth setback to York at the Albright College Tennis Courts on Sunday.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 2-4 in conference and 9-5 overall. Meanwhile, the Spartans advance to 4-1 in conference and 6-4 overall.
Albright opened up the contest claiming the first doubles match as the duo of
Alex Pancu and
Shelby Woodard grasped an 8-4 victory. York answered with a commanding 8-0 win in the second doubles match, but
Libby Harford and
Olivia Frey earned an 8-4 win in the third to put Albright in front 2-1 entering the singles matches.
Pancu kept with her winning ways earning a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot to extend her streak to 13. Unfortunately for the Lions, the Spartans went on to dominate the next five singles matches to solidify their 6-3 conference win.
Albright will close out MAC Commonwealth regular season play on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they travel to Stevenson.
