Lions Hire Catherine (Ostoich) Wiese to Lead Field Hockey Team

READING, PA - Albright College Co-Athletic Directors Rick Ferry and Janice Luck announced on Wednesday the hiring of Catherine (Ostoich) Wiese as the new head field hockey coach of the Lions.

Wiese joins the Lions after previously being the head coach at Central Michigan University for four seasons.  "Coach Co has a phenomenal field hockey coaching and playing background. She brings a great balance of enthusiasm to the field and understanding of the Division III philosophy for our athletes. I am excited to have her lead our field hockey program this fall" said Luck.

Prior to Central Michigan, Coach Co served as the head coach at Missouri State University, as well as an assistant coach at Indiana University and Davidson College.

"I am thrilled to join the Albright College Field Hockey family. I would like to thank Athletic Directors Janice Luck and Rick Ferry, as well as the rest of the search committee, for this incredible opportunity to lead this program," said Wiese.  "I look forward to working with the student athletes as well as the Albright community, as we continue to strengthen a program that focuses on the success of the student athlete on the field, in the classroom and in the community."

While at Central Michigan, Wiese led the Chippewas to their most wins since 2014 in an abbreviated 2021 spring season. In the fall 2021 season she led the team to their first win over a top 25 team since 2014 with a win over 23rd ranked Kent State. In addition to the on-field success, she also coached 42 Academic All MAC team members.

Originally from West Chester, PA, Coach Co was a four-year started at the University of Richmond, including her senior season when she was a co-captain. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament team in 2009 and 2011. Prior to Richmond, she was a two-year starter at Villa Maria Academy, where she was named an honorable mention All-State team member as a senior, and helped lead her team to a state semifinal appearance.
