Reading, PA - The Albright Lions Field Hockey team fell in overtime to Susquehanna by a score of 3-2. The loss drops the Lions to 0-4 on the season, while Susquehanna improves to 3-2.
Susquehanna got out to an early lead on a Emma Campitelli goal a little over seven minutes into the game. That proved to be the only goal in the first half.
The second half saw a completely different Lions team. After having just three shots in the first half, the Lions put up seven shots in the third quarter alone. They finally broke through in the 38th minuteof the game on a
Laurel Gingrich goal, which was assisted by
Lamya Mejias. Just two minutes later the Lions would strike again, this time on a
Jacey Petruno shot, assisted by
Chelsea Johnson. This gave the Lions their first lead of the season.
But after a Sophia Prata goal in the fourth quarter tied things up for Susquehanna, the game went to overtime. Early in the period Susquehanna would score off of a penalty corner to win the game 3-2.
Petruno and
Chelsea Johnson each led the Lions with two shots. In goal,
Veronica Heckman made five saves.
