Reading, PA - The Albright Lions Tennis team faced off against Muhlenberg College, and the Women won 6-3, while the men fell 7-2. The Women improve to 2-0 on the season, while the men fall to 1-2.
The women got out to an early lead by taking two of the three double matches.
Alex Pancu and
Michelle Timothy won their match 8-2, and
Alizabeth Zarnofsky and
Libby Harford won 8-7 in a tiebreaker, which they won 7-2. Morgan Colaneri and
Macie Littleton lost 8-3.
In singles, the Lions won four of the six matches to win the overall match 6-3. Winning in singles was
Alex Pancu (6-0, 6-1),
Michelle Timothy (7-5, 7-5),
Alizabeth Zarnofsky (6-4, 6-4), and
Libby Harford (6-4, 7-5).
Megan Colaneri fell 6-2, 6-3, and
Jacqualine Manikas fell 6-0, 6-0.
The men would take one of the three doubles matches, as the pairing of
Arpit Gainder and
Gavin Buckley defeated their opponents 8-2.
Kobe Serpa and
Clay Lewandowski fell 8-1, while
Mike Vogt and
Hugh Crawford fell 8-0.
In singles play, Lewandowski was the only Lion to find success, as he won his match 7-5, 7-5.
Gainder fell 6-0,6-0, Serpa fell 6-2, 6-3, Busckley fell 6-4, 7-5, and
Hugh Crawford fell 6-3, 6-3.
Mike Vogt split his first two sets 6-3 and 1-6 before falling in a third set tie -breaker by a 10-8 score.
Up Next - Both the men and women will next play on Wednesday, September 28th, traveling to Lancaster, PA to take on Lancaster Bible College. Those matches will start at 3:30pm.
