READING, Pa. - The Albright College women's basketball team (9-6, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) was in action tonight on their home floor and took care of business over Eastern University (2-11, 0-6) by a final score of 66-51. Tonight's win marks the third in four games for Albright.
An Amina Rauf layup and a Mackenzie Dover three pointer got things rolling early for the Lions jumping out to a quick advantage over Eastern. Albright made three three's as a team in the first 10 minutes helping the Lions to a 15-10 lead after one.
The Lions imposed their will on the game going on a 17-0 run to close the second quarter. From seven minutes to the end of the second quarter the Albright defense was outstanding, not allowing Eastern to score a single point during that stretch.
Meanwhile Albright continued their hot shooting from behind the arc adding three more triples in the second quarter. Strong offense and impenetrable defense gave the Lions a 34-16 lead at the break.
Mackenzie Dover scored 12 first half points and Amina Rauf chipped in with eight points of her own. Both Lion guards knocked down two triples in a strong offensive opening 20 minutes.
The Lions built up their lead in the first half and used the big first half margin to their advantage in the second half.
Eastern outscored the Lions 35-32 in the final 20 minutes but never threatened the Lions in a comeback attempt.
