Women’s Basketball Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

The Albright women’s basketball team has now won four games in a row behind big games from Dover, Boggs and Rauf leading the Lions to a 75-67 victory over Hood College.

FREDERICK, Md. - The Albright College women's basketball team (12-6, 6-3 MAC Commonwealth) tied their season high win streak of four games on Saturday afternoon handling business on the road against Hood College (4-13, 1-8 MAC Commonwealth) 75-67.

The Lions earned the victory behind big games from Mackenzie Dover, Amina Rauf and Gabby Boggs. The trio combined for 53 points and 23 rebounds.

It was a back and forth first quarter between the two sides exchanging buckets throughout the opening 10 minutes. A Rauf three late in the quarter gave the Lions a 18-16 after one.

Second quarter played much like the first where both teams were going toe to toe trying to gain an advantage. Again late in the quarter Albright began to pull away taking a five point lead into halftime, 38-33.

Rauf scored 11 points in the first 20 minutes leading the Albright offense. The guard was a perfect 3-3 from long range in the half. Boggs nearly recorded a double-double in the first half scoring nine points and hauling in 10 rebounds.

The Lions came out of halftime on fire going on a 11-2 run to build a lead over Hood College. A Dover layup put the Lions up 14 midway through the quarter. Dover was huge for the Lions in the second half scoring 17 of her 24 points in the final 20 minutes.

Albright led 60-49 after three and used another big run to start the fourth quarter. A quick 7-0 spurt to start the fourth put the Lions up 16. Hood College made it respectable at the end but the game was not indicative of the final score with the Lions picking up the win 75-67.

Dover was brilliant once again for Albright scoring 24 points, grabbing six rebounds and having four steals. Dover's 24 points is a new career high for the sophomore guard. 

Rauf scored 16 for Albright draining three three's to go along with four rebounds. Boggs earned her MAC leading 12th double-double of the year going for 13 points, 13 rebounds and three steals.

The Albright women's basketball team will return home on Tuesday, January, 24 against Lebanon Valley College for a MAC Commonwealth clash. The game will start at 7 p.m.
