Men’s Basketball Drops Home Game to York College

The Albright men’s basketball team dropped a home MAC Commonwealth match to York College of Pennsylvania tonight by a final score of 81-71.

READING, Pa. - The Albright men's basketball team (5-8, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) was in action on Wednesday night and dropped a home match to York College of Pennsylvania (7-6, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth) by a final score 81-71. York's Kai Cipalla scored a career high 30 points leading the Spartans to their fifth straight win.

Albright had it going on early jumping out to a 14-4 lead just five minutes into the ball game. The Lions maintained a lead for the majority of the first half but could never completely put York College away.

The Spartans clawed their way back into the game and were only down four points at halftime, 37-33.

The second half was back and forth and neither team could build themselves a sizable lead. Every basket Albright made, York College would be right there to answer back with a bucket of their own. With 10:38 left on the clock the game was deadlocked at 52-52.

After more back and forth York College took control of the game late and led by nine with just 2:17 left to go.

The Lions Jordan Guerrero nailed a three to cut the deficit to six but it was not enough in the end as York College of Pennsylvania escaped with a 81-71 MAC Commonwealth victory.

Robert Mangum led all Albright scorers with 16 points, Eric Chamberlain added 14 points, Jordan Guerrero registered 13 points and Zyon Grant rounded out the Lions in double figures with 11.

Chamberlain and Guerrero each added four steals defensively. Chris Kouemi recorded nine points and brought down eight rebounds in an all around nice effort for the forward.
