READING, Pa. - The Albright College football team (0-5, 0-4 MAC) returned to the field after their bye week today (Oct. 7) in another rain soaked game hosting Stevenson University (4-1, 3-1 MAC). The Mustangs took the third Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game of the season for both teams this afternoon winning 38-0 over the Lions.Â
Today's game was the third MAC game of the season for both teams. In addition both teams were coming off their bye week heading into today's game.Â
Stevenson started today's game with the ball and scored a field goal on their opening drive. The Lions defense did well holding the Mustangs to only three first quarter points.
Samuel Moratori was all over the field for the Lions defense in the first quarter making 5.5 tackles.Â
In the second quarter with Stevenson driving,
Angelo Hernandez made sure that the Mustangs would go no further, registering an interception. Hernandez hauled in his second interception of the season on a fine play by the Lion safety.Â
The Mustangs scored a touchdown late to extend their lead to 10-0 at halftime.Â
After a Stevenson touchdown to make it 17-0, Albright looked to get on the board. On the next Lions possession,
Isaiah Shockley broke off a 29 yard run getting into plus territory. The Mustang defense would stiffen up after the big run forcing Albright into a long field goal attempt that missed just wide left.Â
The Mustangs would go on to close out the game scoring on their second to last possession via a fake punt to win the contest 38-0.Â
Three different Lions recorded a team high eight tackles in today's game.Â
Darien Osmun finished with eight tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks for the do it all linebacker.
K.J. Stewart and Moatori each finished with eight tackles for the Lions.Â
DeOndre Banks was solid for Albright registering six total tackles, a tackle for loss and two pass breakups.Â
The offense for Albright was led by tailback
Isaiah Shockley. Shockley rushed for 39 yards on 10 carries and had one catch for 23 yards. Shockley is on the cusp of reaching 1,500 rushing yards for his career sitting at 1,450 as a Lion.Â
Ethan Martin made two catches on the day for 15 yards pacing the Lion receiving core.Â
