PHILADELPHIA - The Albright College football team (0-6, 0-5 MAC) was in action on Saturday night under the lights at historic Franklin Field matching up with the Eastern Eagles (2-4, 2-3 MAC) in another rain soaked affair. The Eagles defeated the Lions winning the game 21-9.
Eastern got on the board first in the opening quarter on a two yard touchdown run by Brett Nab making it 7-0.
Picking up in the second quarter where the Albright offense was in the midst of an impressive touchdown drive. The Lions got the ball with 13:09 left on the clock and held it until
Daniel Farley scored from one yard out with 6:14 left in the second quarter. Farley got the start at quarterback this evening and made good on the start rushing for his first career touchdown.
On the Lions 15 play 70-yard touchdown drive, Farley rushed for 35 yards and
Noble Thompson rushed for 29 yards imposing their will on the Eastern defense. Thompson broke off two big runs with one going for 10 yards and the other for 16.
After the Albright touchdown drive, Eastern was able to find the endzone just before halftime to make it a 14-7 deficit at the half for Albright.
Eastern scored on their opening drive of the second half to increase their lead to 21-7.
On the first play of the fourth quarter, Albright punter
Keil Heineman pinned Eastern deep in their own territory forcing the Eagles to start their drive inside their own 10 yard line.
Luke Wellman only needed one play to earn a safety for Albright making a huge defensive play in the Eastern backfield. The safety cut the Eastern lead to 21-9.
Albright looked to make it a one score game late in the fourth quarter getting the ball back at their own 36 yard line with under five minutes to go.
Matt Remash, who relieved Farley at quarterback, fired a 28 yard strike to
Matthew Creeger getting down to the Eastern 33 yard line. After the completion the Lion offense would stall seeing the possession come to end on fourth down.
Thompson led the ground attack for Albright rushing for 64 yards on 12 attempts, good for over five yards per carry. Farley was second on the team in rushing going for 49 yards and a touchdown.
The Albright defense recorded two turnovers on the day both of which being fumble recoveries. A total of 24 different Lions recorded at least one tackle in today's game.
Josh Scurry led with six total tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in a great performance for the senior linebacker.

Albright will return home next weekend (Oct. 21) to Shirk Stadium for the 72nd annual Rajah Shrine Pretzel Bowl. The Lions will play host to Widener University with kick-off set for 12 p.m.
