READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team (2-3) returned to the court on Tuesday (Nov. 28) evening squaring off against the Marymount University Saints (6-2). Marymount made their first trip to Reading this evening since at least 2009 and came away with a 65-62 victory over Albright.
Marymount came into tonight's game on a five-game win streak and extended their streak to six with tonight's win.
After a back and forth first quarter, the Lions found themselves in front by one 15-14.
Julia Zakovitch had the hot hand in the first quarter pouring in six points. Zakovitch would finish tonight's game as the team's leading scorer with 14 points.
After 20 minutes of play Marymount held a slim advantage over Albright leading 30-28. Albright shot 54% from the field in the second quarter to keep pace with Marymount.
The Saints stretched their lead to 46-38 after the third quarter. The Saints duo of Chandler Eddleton and Symantha Shackelford caught fire in the third quarter combining to score 14 of the Saints 16 third quarter points.
In the fourth quarter, the Marymount lead became to much for Albright to overcome as the Saints escaped the Bollman Center with a victory.
Zakovitch poured in a career high 14 points tonight on 5-7 shooting from the floor and went a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Zakovitch added five rebounds, a steal and a block to her overall stat line tonight.
Orianna Edmond needed five rebounds coming into tonight's game to reach 200 rebounds for her career. The sophomore forward hauled in a team high eight rebounds to reach and surpass the 200-career mark.
Kenedy Cooper rounded out the Lions in double figures this evening scoring 11 points marking a new career high. In addition to the 11 points, Kenedy added seven rebounds and two steals.
