READING, Pa. - The Albright women's lacrosse team (0-1) opened their season at home today and squared off against Cabrini University (1-0). Today's game marked the season opener for both teams with Cabrini taking this one 17-2. 

Graduate student attackman Ashleigh Tortorice needed just one point coming into today's game to reach 100 points in her Albright career. It did not take long for Tortorice to earn a point in the game, scoring in the first period.

Tortorice picked up a loose ball in front of Cabrini's goal and deposited the ball into the back of the net for the first goal of the 2023 season for the Lions. 

Later on in the contest, Lauren China found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. After slicing through the Cabrini defense, China finished off the play beating the Cabrini goalie resulting in a goal for herself and the Lions. 

The Cavaliers jumped out to an early lead and carried that momentum into halftime. Cabrini opened the scoring in the second half scoring twice in the third period and ultimately won the game over the Lions.

The Lions will hit the road for their first road game of the 2023 season traveling to Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, February 22. First draw is set for 4:00 p.m.
