Baseball Opens 2023 Season on the Road at Gettysburg

The Albright College baseball team opened their 2023 season on the road today traveling to Gettysburg College for a non conference battle.

GETTYSBURG, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (0-1) was in action this afternoon for the first time during the 2023 season falling to Gettysburg (1-1) by a final score of 23-4.

In the first at bat of the season for the Lions Reece Adam only needed to see two pitches before he deposited a ball into left field for a double.

Adam was swinging a hot bat all day going 3-4 for in the game. In addition to the first inning double, Adam recorded an RBI single in the sixth inning and another single in the top of the ninth inning.

Gettysburg broke the game open in the second inning, plating 12 runs in the inning and five more runs in the third.

A four run sixth inning got the Lions on the board taking advantage of Gettysburg errors.

Roman Berret led off the sixth with a single and then advanced to third on an error. Ethan Karel reached on an error before Deklyn Marks came to bat and laced a single to load the bases.

Domenic Borelli was next in line and singled through the right side plating the Lions first run of the day. An RBI single from Tommy Lewman and a Patrick Healy bases loaded walk scored the second and third runs in the inning capped off by an Adam single scoring the team's fourth run of the frame.

Recording their first hits of their Albright careers today was Zander Tesoriere, Marks and Lewman. Lewman and Healy also recorded their first career RBI's in the process.


UP NEXT:
The Lions will return home for their home season opener and will now play on Sunday (Feb. 26) at 1:00 p.m. against Gettysburg. The game was pushed back a day from Saturday (Feb. 27) due to impending inclement weather.
