READING, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (0-2) wrapped up their season opening series against Gettysburg (2-1) today (Feb. 26) falling to the visitors, 20-2.
The Bullets got on the scoreboard first, plating two runs in the first inning.
In the bottom of the first inning Roman Beretta came up to bat with two men down. The sophomore was slotted in the three hole today and roped a triple in his first at bat. As the ball blazed through the outfield, Beretta sprinted around the bases for a two out triple.
Ethan Karel was next in line but a fly out to right field ended the threat in the top of the first for the Lions.
Gettysburg broke the game open in the third inning, plating five runs in the third. After five innings, the Bullets held a 16-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the fifth inning the Lions were able to push a couple runs across the plate. After three consecutive walks by Trey Smith, Reece Adam and Jack Gilmer to start the inning, Zander Tesoriere was next in line and drew a walk of his own to get Albright on the board.
The Lions second run of the game came on a groundout by Karel scoring Adam from third.
Collecting hits for Albright today was Berretta, Deklyn Marks, Domenic Borelli and Tommy Lewman.
