ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Albright College women's basketball team (16-7, 10-4 MAC Commonwealth) was in action tonight on the road and cruised to a 70-47 win over Eastern (4-17, 2-11 MAC Commonwealth) to complete the season sweep.
With the win tonight, the Lions have officially clinched a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth playoffs in back to back seasons. The Lions remain as the conference's two seed and with wins in their final two games, Albright will host the first round of playoffs.
It was a high scoring first quarter with the Lions coming away leading 18-15 after 10 minutes of play.
Mackenzie Dover scored seven first quarter points to pace the Lions offensively.
Albright began to pull away in the second quarter courtesy of a 19-4 run throughout the frame. The Lions outscored Eastern 23-11 in the second taking a 41-26 lead into halftime.
Six different Lions scored five or more points in the first half. Dover led with 13 points on 50% shooting from the field.
Julia Zakovitch added seven points of her own and
Gabby Boggs scored six points to go with eight rebounds (five offensive).
There was no let up from Albright in the second half taking care of business and cruising to another conference victory. Four different Lions ended up in double figures as Albright stretched their lead to as many as 29 in the second half. The 23 point margin of victory is the second largest win this season.
Dover finished the game with 15 points, four assists and two steals.
Amina Rauf had 11 points, four assists and four steals.
C.J. Apistar went 5-6 from the field scoring a career high 12 points. The first year guard added four rebounds for good measure.
Boggs rounded out the Lions in double figures scoring 10. For Boggs it was her 13th double double of the year collecting 10 rebounds and dishing out five assists.

The Albright women's basketball team returns home this Saturday, February 11 squaring off against Stevenson. The game will serve as Albright's Senior Day with festivities beginning before tipoff at 1pm. Saturday's game has been announced as a "Blackout", wear black to support your Lions. In addition, free t-shirts will be handed out prior to the start of the game for all fans in attendance.*
