READING, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (2-11, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) played a single nine inning game this afternoon and took care of business at home over the Central Pennsylvania Knights (3-6) by a final score of 17-8.
The Knights started the game plating four runs in the first inning. But in the bottom of the frame the Lions battled back for three runs of their own.
Leading off, Zander Tesoriere was hit by a pitch and later advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tommy Lewman was next up and earned a walk, putting two runners on base for the Lions.
Roman Berretta singled to shortstop putting runners at the corners for the Lions. Next up was Reece Adam who was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Lions outfielder John O'Connor had the big hit of the inning doubling to left center scoring Lewman and Berretta.
Jack Gilmer got in the box score in the first inning scoring Adam on an RBI groundout
The Lions took the lead in the third inning scoring four runs in the third.
Nick Barton got the big third inning started with a single to center field. Deklyn Marks gave the Lions the 5-4 lead with an infield single. Capping off the four run inning was Adam singling to left field bringing home two more runs for the Lions.
Albright broke the game open in the sixth inning scoring six runs on five hits.
Gilmer started off the six run inning for the Lions singling to the pitcher. Ethan Karel singled to the catcher allowing Gilmer to score for the Lions. Tesoriere knocked home Karel and Barton via a single to left center. Berretta hit a single to left field scoring Tesoriere following an O'Connor sacrifice fly that scored Lewman.
Albright scored two runs across the final two innings to take the non conference game over Central Pennsylvania College by a final score of 17-8.
In todays game, Adam was on base all five of his plate appearances. Adam went 3 for 3 with five RBI's, a walk and was hit by a pitch twice. Collecting two hits in todays game was John O'Connor, Roman Berreta and Ethan Karel. O'Connor collected three RBI's on a single and a double and Karel scored four runs.
Lewman scored three runs of his own and added an RBI and fellow first year teammate Tesoriere added two RBI's of his own.
