Baseball Edged Out By Eastern At Home

The Albright College baseball team was in action on chilly Friday afternoon and were narrowly defeated by the Eastern Eagles 3-2 in a nail-biting game.

Reading, Pa. – The Albright College baseball team (2-12, 0-7) was coming off a season high 17 runs against Central Pennsylvania Lions their last time out. In today's game the Eastern (3-15, 1-6) pitching staff did a good job of slowing down the Albright offense winning the game 3-2.

Albright and Eastern were locked up in a pitchers' duel through five innings. Lucas Williams got the start for the Lions and was brilliant on the hill.

After giving up a couple hits and a run in the first, Williams settled down nicely and retired the next 14 out of 17 Eastern Batters. Williams earned the first quality start of his career tossing seven innings and charged with earned runs. In addition, Williams fanned six Eastern batters also giving him a new career high for strike outs in a game.
After five innings of play the Eagles were clinging to a 1-0 lead.

Deklyn Marks broke up the Eastern perfect game with a single into the hole on the left side in the bottom of the sixth.

Roman Berretta got the Lions back into the game in the bottom of the seventh with a big swing. The sophomore outfielder served as the DH in todays game and blasted a two-run home run over the left field wall. Berretta's first home run of the season got the Lions within one down 3-2 heading into the final two innings.

Albright got a runner on in the bottom of the ninth via a Reece Adam walk but the Lions could not find the clutch they needed to steal the game from Eastern.
Nick Barton and Tommy Lewman also collected a hit today to keep both of their averages above the .300 average threshold.
