CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Albright women's lacrosse team (5-3) downed DeSales (3-5) on Wednesday afternoon 13-11 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) crossover action. Abbie Moist scored a career high six goals and Chloe Fornoff tied a career high scoring four goals to lead the Lions to a big road victory.
The two teams played an even first period each scoring four goals. Fornoff scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Kayte Moist.
Abbie Moist scored the Lions next five goals in the game. Abbie Moist ended with a first period hat trick and added two more in the second for five total first half goals. Assisting on two of the Abbie Moist first period goals was Ashleigh Tortorice and Brianna Kung, respectively.
Albright distanced themselves from Desales blanking the Bulldogs 6-0 in the second period.
Chole Fornoff scored a second period hat trick extending the Albright lead with each goal. Fornoff scored off assists from Abbie Moist and Sarah Chernis and one unassisted all in the second period. Lucy Moreland added her second goal of the season in the second period helping the Lions to a 10-4 at halftime.
Brianna Kung stopped the DeSales run in the third period, scoring to put the Lions back up by three, 11-8. The Bulldogs cut their deficit down 12-11 but that would be as close as DeSales would come to pulling off the comeback.
Kayte Moist scored with 2:41 left on the clock to make it 13-11 to give the Lions all they needed to win the game by that same score.
Abbie Moist went 3-3 on free position shots and Fornoff recorded five draw controls.
Kyra Lycett was strong defensively for the Lions today filling up the stat sheet with four draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
