LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - The Albright women's lacrosse team (6-3) has now won five of their last six games winning on Saturday afternoon dominating St. Joseph's (1-3) winning the game 20-8.
The Albright Lions have won five of their last six games overall heading into MAC Commonwealth play next week.
Albright started fast and never trailed in today's game, controlling the match from start to finish. The Lions put together an offensive clinic in the first period scoring nine goals and recording an assist on every goal scored. Six different Lions scored a goal in the first period led by Lauren China's first period hat trick. The nine goals were the most scored in any single period this season for the Lions.
China scored her hat trick and just two minutes of game time. Kyra Lycett scored twice in the opening frame while Chloe Fornoff, Kayte Moist, Abbie Moist and Ashleigh Tortorice all tallied one goal for Albright.
Tortorice recorded five first period assists setting a new career high in just 15 minutes of action. Lycett, A. Moist, Fornoff and K. Moist all recorded an assist as well in the first period action.
The Lions used their big first period to their advantage to take a 11-5 lead into halftime. Fornoff and Lycett registered the goals in the second period for Albright.
It was more of the same from Albright in the third period, getting three more goals. Lycett, Fornoff, K. Moist and Zoe Dicks scored one goal each to extend the Lion lead to 15-5 heading into the final frame.
With the running clock in effect, Albright was up 10 goals for a majority of the fourth period cruising to a 20-8 victory over the Golden Eagles.
Fornoff and China led the way, each scoring four goals in the game. China and K. Moist each scored three times and A. Moist scored twice for Albright. Morgan Kopcik, Brianna Kung, Ashleigh, Tortorice and Dicks each scored once in the game.
Tortorice finished with a career high five assists and Lycett added three assists to her four goals for a career high seven points. Fornoff, Kopick, and A. Moist each had two assists and K. Moist and Sarah Chernis finished with one assist.
Caelainn Morrison was strong in net for Albright finishing with eight saves earning her sixth win of the season.
