Softball Drops Sunday (Mar. 26) Doubleheader to Eastern

The Albright College softball team started their week with a sweep over Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday but came up short today falling to Eastern in both games of the doubleheader.

READING, PA. - The Albright College softball team (2-6, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) was in action on Sunday after inclement weather forced a postponement from Saturday's (Mar. 25) originally scheduled date. Eastern (12-5, 2-0) took both games of today's double header winning game one 9-1 and game two, 10-0.

GAME 1: L, 9-1 (6 INN.)

The Lions looked to strike first in game one getting a two walk from Mya Mrakich. Eastern was able to get out of the inning unscathed heading to the top of the second tied at zero.

Veronica Heckman added a single in the third inning collecting her first hit of the afternoon. In the bottom of the fourth inning Mrakich led off with a single and later advanced to second on an Albright groundout.

Kaitlyn Aasheim roped a double to left center to score Mrakich for an Albright run. Aasheim now has a double in three straight games and earned her first career RBI as a collegiate softball player when Aasheim doubled home Mrakich.

Eastern was able to take the lead across the middle innings and found themselves in front 5-1. The Eagles used two pitchers in game one and they were able to keep the Albright bats at bay and close out game one for the 9-1 victory.

Kathryn Baptiste and Madison Lasko also collected a hit each during game one this afternoon.

GAME 2: L, 10-0 (5 INN.)

Eastern jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings of play.

Mrakich was on base again in the first inning, this time lacing a double into the right center field gap. With one hit in each game today, Mrakich now owns a four game hit streak for the Lions.

Eastern added four more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take control of the game over Albright and ultimately take game two, 10-0.

Heather Pomante was credited with a single, collecting her fourth overall hit of the young season.
