ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Albright women's lacrosse team (7-3, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) opened MAC Commonwealth play this afternoon against Eastern and won in dominating fashion over Eastern (0-8, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) 23-2.
Today's win for Albright marks the fourth straight victory over Eastern by at least 15 or more goals. In all, the Lions put together an impressive March going 6-1 in the month.
There were no shortage of goals today for Albright tallying 11 in the first quarter alone. Albright has now scored 43 goals over their last two games played, scoring at least 20 in each game.
Albright led 11-0 after the first quarter dominating from start to finish. In the first period the Lions found goals from six different players including a hat trick from Abbie Moist. A. Moist led the way with three goals, Kayte Moist and Ashleigh Tortorice each scored twice and Kyra Lycett and Chloe Fornoff each scored once in the opening 15 minutes.
The scoring slowed in the second period seeing Albright taking a 12-1 lead into halftime. Fornoff was credited with the lone tally in the second period for her second goal of the game.
Albright added 11 more goals in the second half having their way on the offensive side of the ball. China and Lycett added two more goals in the third period while Fornoff and A. Moist each added one goal for Albright.
The scoring did not stop there for the Lions as they found the back of the net five more times in the final 15 minutes. China added her fifth of the day scoring in three out of the four periods this afternoon. Zoe Dicks scored two times in the fourth giving Dicks her first multi goal game of her Albright career. Brianna Kung and Marisa Cocca each scored in the fourth as well, rounding out the scoring for the Lions.
In all, nine different Lions scored a goal today. In addition to China's five goals, she also recorded two assists, six ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Tortorice added five more assists in today's game giving her back to back games with five assists.
The Lions were feeding their teammates all day featuring K. Moist with three assists, Sarah Chernis, Cocca and Dicks each having one.
Caelainn Morrison was solid between the pipes today for Albright recording a season low in goals allowed and making nine saves.
