READING, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (5-22, 2-16 MAC Commonwealth) got production from up and down the lineup on their way to defeating Penn State Berks (8-13) at home by a final score of 16-12. The 16 runs are the second most in a single game for Albright this season. Albright scored 17 runs against Central Pennsylvania College on March 14.
Every Lion that started today's game finished with at least one hit, the first time the Lions had a hit 1-9 in the same game this season. The Lions did most of their damage in the span of two half innings scoring 14 runs between the third and sixth innings.
The Lions found themselves down early but came roaring back in the third inning scoring six runs in the frame.
Eddie Meredith and Zander Tesoriere led off the inning with singles and would later come around to score on a Reece Adam two RBI single to left field. Deklyn Marks followed suit with a single while Roman Berretta doubled to right field, scoring Adam from second. Albright was not done there as Tommy Lewman capped off the inning with a two RBI single scoring Berretta and Marks. Albright led 6-1 after four innings.
PSU-Berks regained the lead 10-6 heading into the bottom of the sixth but Albright was there once again to answer the call. The Lions scored eight times in the inning, this time taking the lead for good.
Nick Barton had a single and double in the sixth inning recording two RBI's in the process. Jack Gilmer, Marks, Berretta and John O'Connor all hit RBI singles in the inning for the Lions. In all the Lions produced eight runs on eight hits in the sixth inning taking a 14-10 lead into the home stretch and ultimately winning the game, 16-12.
Josh Tudor came on to close out the 9th inning and did just that giving the Lions a 16-12 victory to start the week.
Marks led the way going 4-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Reece Adam, Berretta, Barton, O'Connor and Tesoriere all had two hits for Albright. Lewman recorded just one hit but ended with four RBIs putting the ball in play every at bat.
