READING, PA. - On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, The Albright College softball team (2-16, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) returned to the field after Easter break and dropped the non-conference doubleheader to Penn State Brandywine (20-6).
GAME 1: L, 12-1
After PSU Brandywine scored two in the first, Alright added one of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Veronica Heckman put the ball in play and was rewarded reaching base via a PSU-Brandywine error. Jadelyn Van Winkle made the Nittany Lions pay as she roped a double to center field that scored Heckman from first. For Van Winkle that is her fifth RBI of the year.
PSU-Brandywine broke open the game in the sixth inning scoring five runs and ultimately taking game one over the Lions.
Kathryn Baptiste, Mya Mrakich and Summer Leeds rounded out the hits for Albright in game one.
GAME 2: L, 11-0
PSU-Brandywine carried their momentum from game one into game two winning going away over Albright.
Summer Leeds added another hit for Albright during game two. The first-year student-athlete now owns a three game hit game dating back to last week's games at Alvernia. Leeds will look to improve on her career long hit streak this week.
