READING, PA. -The Albright College softball team (3-19, 0-8 MAC Commonwealth) was in action on Sunday afternoon after thunderstorms forced a postponement to Sunday. The Lions dropped both games of the double header to Stevenson (15-12, 7-3 MAC Commonwealth).
The Albright softball team designated both games today to "Striking Out Cancer" through the organization NFCA.
GAME 1: L, 12-0 (5 INN)
Stevenson struck first in the top of the first with a homerun that just barely fit inside the left field foul pole. The Mustangs would then plate 10 runs across the middle innings to take game one over Albright.
Kathryn Baptiste and Mya Mrakich both recorded singles in game one for the Lions. Baptiste and Mrakich both recorded hits in games one and two today for Albright. Baptiste is now hitting .250 on the year while Mrakich is up to .254 in her first year as an Albright Lion.
GAME 2: L, 9-1
Albright and Stevenson were tied heading into the third inning but the Mustangs were able to take the lead scoring four runs in the third inning.
The Lions hammered out nine hits in game two but struggled to put runs up the board. Madison Lasko and Veronica Heckman each recorded two hits for the Loins in game two. Heckman with two singles and Lasko with a single and an RBI double.
For Heckman this is her fifth game of the year with multiple hits in the same game and the second such instance for Lasko. Heckman is now batting .274 on the year while Lasko sits at respectable .250.
Rounding out the hits in game two for Albright was Summer Leeds, Kathryn Baptiste, Mya Mrakich, Kaitlyn Aasheim and Heather Pomante.
