Baseball Completes Sweeps of Penn State Berks in Home-and Home Series

The Albright College baseball team beat PSU Berks 16-12 on the Lions home field a week ago and went on the road to PSU Berks this afternoon and won by a final of 10-5 to complete the home-and-home sweep of the Nittany Lions.

READING, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (6-25, 2-19 MAC Commonwealth) completed the sweep of Penn State Berks (8-20) in their home-and-home series taking today's game by a final of 10-5. Last week, Albright beat PSU Berks at Kelchner Field 16-12 to take game one of the series.

In today's game Albright racked 10 runs on 19 hits completing the sweep against PSU Berks. In the two games series with the Nittany Lions, Albright produced 32 hits and 26 across two games. In additon in both games, every batter in the starting lineup ended the day with a least one hit.

Albright held a slim 3-2 advantage heading into the sixth inning of today's game. Eddie Meredith and Tommy Lewman both recorded RBI singles and Roman Berretta tripled to score John O'Connor for the Lions first three runs of the day.

In the sixth inning, Albright began to impose their will offensively scoring four runs in the frame. Domenic Borelli, Zander Tesoriere and Jack Gilmer all had RBI singles in the inning for the Lions. O'Connor brought home the fourth run of the inning on a fielders choice that plated Tesoriere.

Albright tacked on three more runs across the final three innings to seal the 10-5 victory. Tesoriere, who was 3-5 on the day brought home two runs in the seventh via a single and Tommy Lewman walked in the 10th run of the day for Albright in the eight inning.

Hayden Paukstis earned the start for Albright tossing 4 ⅓ innings scattering four hits and allowed two runs. Eddie Cruz got the win for Albright this afternoon. Cruz came on in relief of Paukstis and threw 3 ⅔ strong innings keeping the PSU Berks bats at bay.

Nick Barton, Meredith and Tesoriere all produced three hits on the day. Meredith collected two doubles, Barton scored twice and Tesoriere had 3 RBIs, marking a new carrer high for the first year outfielder.

O'Connor, Lewamn, Borelli and Gilmer all finished the day with two hits and at least one RBI and one run scored.

Rounding out the hits for Albright was Deklyn Marks and Berretta each recording one hit on the day.

UP NEXT:
The Lions will be back on their home field on Friday, April 21 for Senior Day facing off against Widener in a single nine inning game. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
