Baseball Concludes Weekend Series With Widener

The Albright baseball team went on the road on Saturday afternoon and dropped both games of the doubleheader to the Pride concluding the weekend series.

CHESTER, PA.  - The Albright College baseball team (6-28, 2-22 MAC Commonwealth) went on the road this afternoon squaring off against Widener (19-17, 11-10 MAC Commonwealth) wrapping up the three game weekend series.


GAME 1: L, 10-6

After two innings of play the game was all tied up at 3-3. The Lions got two runs in the top of the first inning courtesy of a Tommy Lewman sacrifice fly and a Nick Barton RBI single. In the top of the second inning, Reece Adam roped a single to right field, scoring Ethan Karel from second base for Albright's third run of the game.

Widener got to the Albright pitching staff in the fourth inning scoring five runs in the inning which proved to be the difference in game one.

Albright had 10 hits as a team in game one led by Deklyn Marks, Nick Barton and Jack Gilmer who all had two a piece. Reece Adam, Tommy Lewman, Eddie Meredith and Ethan Karel all had one hit for Albright in the game.

Marks, Barton, Gilmer, Adam, Lewman and Zander Tesoriere all recorded one RBI in the game for Albright.


GAME 2: L, 14-7

Widener jumped on the Lions in game two holding a 11-3 lead after three innings of play. The Pride used their big first three innings to close out the Lions in game two of the doubleheader.

Albright made some noise in the top of the fifth inning scoring four runs in the frame. Albright's first five batters in the inning all reached base safely. Marks led off with a walk and was then followed by a Roman Berretta hit by pitch and Tommy Lewman single to load the bases.

Patrick Healy pinch hit and drew an RBI walk while Eddie Meredith beat out an infield single for the first two runs of the inning. Lewman would later come around to score on a wild pitch and Healy would score on an error by Widener for the third and fourth runs of the inning.

Marks, Meredith, Karel and Tesoriere each collected a hit in game two for Albright. Tesoriere also notched two RBI's in game two giving him his 9th and 10th RBI's of the season.

Tommy Lewman went a perfect 4-4 in game two with two runs scored. Lewman is now sporting a .317 batting average in his first year as a collegiate student-athlete.

Marks had a big series at the plate going 6-12 with 2 RBI's and three runs scored. The first year second baseman is now hitting .300 on the dot after a strong weekend series at the plate.
