READING, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (4-20, 2-14 MAC Commonwealth) played in one of the craziest games all year against Messiah (12-14-1, 8-8 MAC Commonwealth) but came up just short, dropping the extra inning game 12-11 to the visiting Falcons.
Albright did their damage in the third and fourth innings plating 10 runs across the two innings. The first five batters of the third inning all reached base for Albright.
Jack Gilmer led off the inning with a single followed by a Reece Adam single. Deklyn Marks put the ball and play which allowed Gilmer to score off an error by Messiah. Roman Berretta singled to send home Adam and Tommy Lewman doubled to right center to tie the game at 3-3. Nick Barton produced the final RBI of the inning, hustling down the line to allow Lewman to score the fourth run of the inning for Albright.
The bats stayed hot, scoring six more times in the fourth inning. Albright batted around in the inning sending 11 batters to the plate. Adam laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third with one down in the inning. Marks singled to bring home Zander Tesoriere and Lewman singled to left field to score Marks and Gilmer. Barton produced an RBI single for the fourth run of the inning while Meredith brought two Lions home with a single of his own.
Messiah's bats came to life in the seventh inning scoring five runs and would ultimately take a 11-10 lead in the top of the ninth inning.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Marks came to bat and sent the game to extra innings, hitting a single through the right side scoring Gilmer who reached previously via a walk. The game was tied 11-11 heading into the 10th.
Messiah was able to scratch across a run in the 10th to steal game one of the series from Albright.
Lewman, Barton and Gilmer all had three hits today for Albright. Lewman had three RBI's and Barton recorded two. Reece, Marks and John O'Connor all recorded two hits with Marks adding two RBI's.

Albright will head to Messiah tomorrow (April 8) for a pair of seven inning games against the Falcons. Game 1 is set for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch.
