Baseball Closes Out Weekend Series Against Messiah

The Albright College baseball team closed out their weekend series against Messiah on Saturday afternoon playing two seven inning games.

GRANTHAM, PA.  - The Albright College baseball team (4-22, 2-16 MAC Commonwealth) wrapped up their three game weekend set against Messiah (14-14-1, 10-8 MAC Commonwealth) dropping both games of the doubleheader on the road to the Falcons.

GAME 1: L, 12-1

Messiah jumped on Albright in game one scoring twice in the first inning and leading 10-0 after five innings of play.

Tommy Lewamn followed up his first inning single with an RBI in the top of the sixth inning. Lewamn reached on a fielder's choice that scored Deklyn Marks who led off the inning with a single.

Marks, Lewman, Roman Berretta and Ethan Karel each recorded one hit in game one for the Lions. For Berretta game one marked his fifth straight game with a hit.


GAME 2: L, 12-3

Messiah scored at least one run in the first four innings of game two, winning going away and taking the series from Albright.

Deklyn Marks added another hit in game two giving him hits in both games today. Marks finishes the weekend series with Messiah collecting four hits, four runs scored and two RBI's. Marks will carry a four game hit streak into next week's game against Penn State Berks and Stevenson.

Ethan Karel collected a hit in game two giving him two base knocks in both games of the afternoon.

In the sixth inning, Albright scored three times taking advantage of Messiah fielding errors. Lewman and Berretta walked to load the bases and would later come around to score on and wild pitch and RBI groundout. Eddie Meredith collected the RBI groundout for the Lions good for his 12th RBI of the year.


UP NEXT:
Albright will return home for a single nine inning game against non-conference foe Penn State Berks. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
