Martin Ramsay’s Two Goals Lifts Men’s Soccer to 2-1 Win Over Notre Dame of Maryland

The Albright men’s soccer team got two goals from sophomore Martin Ramsay lifting the Lions to a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland on Monday afternoon.

BALTIMORE, MD. - The Albright men's soccer team (5-1) faced off against the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators (2-3) for the first time in school history Monday afternoon. The Lions won 2-1 over the Gators behind a two goal performance from standout forward Martin Ramsay.

Notre Dame of Maryland is currently in their inaugural season after the University announced the addition of a men's soccer program in the summer of 2022. Through six games the Lions have already tied the most wins (5) in a single season since 2019.

Albright's five wins to open the season are the most wins in the month of September since the 2014 season.

It took just two minutes into the game for Ramsay to open the scoring for the Lions. Ramsay's goal was a blast into the upper right portion of the goal that beat the Gator goalkeeper for an early 1-0 lead.

Notre Dame of Maryland answered the goal in the first half to tie the game at 1-1. The 1-1 score would hold until halftime. Ramsay and Myles Mitchell each fired two shots for the Lions in the first half. Albright also held a 5-1 advantage in the first half for corners taken.

Ramsay was not done for the day as he scored in both halves leading the way for the Lion attack. Ramsay scored his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute giving Albright a 2-1 lead.

This is the second time this season that Ramsay has scored two goals in a game this season.

Ramsay's two goals proved to be the difference in the game giving Albright a hard fought 2-1 win on the road. Ramsay now has six goals in six games which leads the MAC Commonwealth for goals scored this season.

The Lion offense was rolling all day long keeping the pressure on the Gators back line. As a team Albright fired off 17 shots with 10 on goal. Ramsay led the way with five shots while Vincent Simmons had three and Myles Mitchell and Grant Hernandez each had two shots.
