Field Hockey Dominates Lycoming 5-1 Opening the Season With Back To back Wins

The Lions field hockey team handled their business at home today with a statement victory over Lycoming winning 5-1. Albright scored five goals from five different players.

READING, PA. – The Albright field hockey team (2-0) has opened their season with back to back wins, winning today over Lycoming (1-1) 5-1 in convincing fashion. Albright led 4-1 at halftime with the game never in doubt. Five different Lions scored a goal today while outshooting the Warriors 17-2 in the game in a complete team effort.

The Opening Albright goal came from Olivia Cimino to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead. For Cimino it was her first career goal.

Lycoming would tie the game at 1-1 before the end of period one.

Albright started to impose their will in the second period scoring three times in the frame. Shannon Griffin and Chelsea Johnson each scored within a minute of each other to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. Griffin's first goal on the early season was assisted by Olivia Lorah. Johnson has now scored in both games to open the season giving her five points in two games. Assisting on Johnson's goal was Florissa Hakker picking up her first career point for the Lions.

It was a day of firsts as Keliah Santiago scored her first career goal just before the half to make it a 4-1 game. The goal for Santiago was assisted by McKena Cox who also tallied her first carrer assist for the Lions.

Albright controlled the pace of play in the second half giving Lycoming no hope of coming back in the game.

The Lions added one more goal for good measure off the stick of Lorah. Lorah made the game 5-1 and was assisted by Hakker once more.

Coach Wiese likes where her team is at after two wins to start the season. "I am proud of the team to show up today and get the back to back win. It's hard to win twice in a row but the team came together and made it happen. We will enjoy this weekend, take the good from it and look to improve in some key areas for next week."

Albright finished with a 17-2 shot advantage, 13 of which were on goal and a 10-2 advantage in penalty corners.
