Football Drops Home Game to FDU-Florham

The Albright College football team hosted FDU-Florham on Homecoming Saturday in the Lions second home game of the year. The Devils topped the Lions 14-6.

READING, Pa. - The Albright College football team (0-4) welcomed FDU-Florham (2-2) to town on Homecoming Saturday afternoon. The rain was present all game long making life difficult for both teams on both ends of the field. The Devils managed to pull out the 14-6 win over the Lions.

The Albright offense was led by senior tailback Isaiah Shockley who carried the ball 21 times in the game for the Lions. Shockley rushed for a season high 154 yards averaging 7.2 yards per carry. Shockley's longest rush of the day came in the second half when he broke off a 59 yard run setting up Albright in FDU-Florham territory.

Darien Osmun was all over the field for Albright defensively. Osmun totaled 13 tackles including a tackle for loss in a do it all performance from the sophomore linebacker.

Albright forced a turnover on the first possession of the game for FDU-Florham. Jamaree Roberts forced the fumble and Eric Martin was there to fall on the ball. The turnover resulted in three points for Albright, taking an early 3-0 lead in the game.

The passing game for both teams were kept dormant today due to the rainfall throughout the entire game. FDU-Florham scored on the ensuing drive after their opening drive turnover to make it a 7-3 ballgame. After a scoreless second quarter, the Devils led Albright 7-3 at the half.

Halfway through the third quarter, Albright converted on their second field goal of the game cutting the deficit to just one at 7-6. Dean Severin nailed both of his field goal attempts today, one from 32 yards and one from 36 yards.

In the fourth quarter, the Lions defense forced their second of two turnovers giving the ball back to the offense at midfield. Taylor Heflin came flying off the edge sacking the Devil quarterback forcing a fumble and ultimately recovering the fumble himself. The FDU-Florham defense stood tall and forced Albright to punt the ball back to Albright.

In the waning minutes of the game, the Lions were in plus territory looking to score and then having a chance at a two point conversion. Matt Remash fired a bullet into the endzone that was just out of the reach of attended wide receiver, Matthew Creeger seeing the pass fall incomplete.

FDU-Florham added a late touchdown, stealing the game on the road over the Lions 14-6.
