Men’s Soccer Shutouts Wilson 3-0 for Back to Back Wins to Start the Season

The Albright men’s soccer team was on the road for the second straight and won their second straight game 3-0 over Wilson College. Ramsay, Simmons and Gross each scored for Albright.

CHAMBERSBURG, PA. - The Albright men's soccer team (2-0) picked up their second win in as many games to start the season on Sunday afternoon cruising to 3-0 shutout victory over Wilson College (0-2). Today's win marked the first time since 2013 that the men's soccer team has started a season 2-0.

The first goal for the Lions came within the first 10 minutes of play. Martin Ramsay wasted no time giving the Lions the lead at 1-0. Ramsay has scored in each game to start the season. Andrew Meyers was credited with the assist on Ramsey's goal for his first career assist.

The Lions would carry a 2-0 lead into halftime courtesy of an Austin Gross goal in the 27th minute of play. Gross collected a pass from Vincent Simmons and took care of the rest to double the Albright lead.

At halftime the Lions had the advantage in shots with 10 total and corners with four total. The defense was stingy only allowing three shots and Chris Denholm made two saves in the first half for Albright.

After assisting in the first half, Simmons decided he was not done for the day, adding a goal in the 50th minute. Simmons, who is in his first year with Albright, is off to a roaring start scoring in both games to start the season.

Albright controlled the game from start to finish scoring timely goals and making defensive stops when called upon. Goalkeeper Cooper Walters came in relief of Chris Denholm and made two saves in the second half to preserve the 3-0 shutout for Albright.

The Lions finished the game with 20 shots, 11 of them on goal and winning the corner kick battle 7-0.

Denholm and Walters combined for four saves for the first shutout of the young season.
