Women’s Soccer Opens MAC Commonwealth Play against No. 5 Messiah

The Albright women’s soccer team opened MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon against nationally ranked Messiah. The Falcons won today's game by a final score of 2-0.

READING, PA. - The Albright women's soccer team (3-6-1) was in action at home on Saturday afternoon for their second straight home game against nationally ranked No. 5 Messiah (7-2). The Falcons won today's game by a final score of 2-0.

Today's game was the first MAC Commonwealth game of the season for both sides. The two teams will play in seven total MAC games throughout the season.

Messiah jumped out to a 2-0 lead and carried the first half momentum into halftime leading 2-0 after 45 minutes of play.

Despite the 2-0 halftime deficit, McKenna LeVan was great in net making seven first half saves to keep the game close.

Messiah kept the pressure on in the second half but could not find the back of the net due in large part to the stingy Lions defense. LeVan made seven more saves in the second half.

Messiah used the two first half goals to their advantage winning the game by a final score of 2-0.

For LeVan the 14 saves in tonight's game is a new career high for the Junior goalkeeper. Tonight's game marks the second game for LeVan this year making double digit saves. In the game against Rutgers-Camden LeVan made 12 saves.

LeVan has run her save total up to 63 so far this year.
