Men’s Soccer Falls at Home to No. 1 Messiah

The Albright men’s soccer team hosted the number one team in all of Division III on Saturday night. Messiah got the better of Albright winning the game 2-0.

READING, Pa. - The Albright men's soccer team (7-2-1) hosted No. 1 Messiah University (9-0-1) on Saturday night at Shirk Stadium. The Falcons bested the Lions winning by a final score of 2-0.

Today's game marked the first MAC Commonwealth game of the season for both teams.

Messiah struck first in tonight's contest to take a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute of play. The 1-0 lead would hold heading into halftime after 45 minutes of play.

Chris Denholm made three fantastic saves in the first half stopping Messiah on the doorstep in two of his three first half saves.

Messiah tallied their second goal from the penalty spot in an unfavorable call against the Lions. Tahlia Loyd scored the penalty to make it a 2-0 game.

The 2-0 Messiah lead held until the final whistle seeing the Falcons leave Reading with a win.

Denholm finished with six saves in tonight's game making multiple difficult saves in the process.

Curren Shesniak led the Lions offense with a shot on goal and was followed by John Villano and Grant Hernandez who each tallied one shot for Albright.

Albright remains at home for their fourth straight game hosting DeSales in a Commonwealth Freedom division crossover matchup. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start from Reading, Pa.
