READING, PA. – The Albright women's volleyball team (2-1) was in action on Tuesday night at home squaring off against Notre Dame of Maryland (1-2) in non conference volleyball action. Albright prevailed in the back and forth match battling back from two sets down winning in five sets and avenging last seasons lost to the Gators in the process. Albright has played in two five set matches through their first three total matches played.

Albright took the first set over Notre Dame of Maryland in overtime jumping out to an early lead. In the first set the Lions used a 5-0 run and a 7-1 run to pull away from Notre Dame of Maryland in the first set.
Rachel Etim needed just one kill in the game to eclipse the 100-kill mark for her Albright career, and got the job done in the first set finishing with two kills.
The Gators took sets two and three from Albright taking a 2-1 sets advantage but could not put the Lions away.
The Lions had to have the fourth set and did just that to tie the match up at two games apiece. Outside hitter
Sophie Hampton caught fire in the fourth frame having five kills in the set to send the game into a decisive fifth set. In the process Hampton is now over 300 kills for her career.
Set number five played like the entire match with both sides trading points and unable to pull away from one another. With the Gators leading nine to eight in the fifth set, Albright turned up the pressure and scored seven of the games next points to win the match and complete the comeback.
First year,
Neve Straff played the best game of her young Albright career tallying 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Hampton led the way recording a team high 18 kills.
Albright had it going on the defensive end seeing five different players record at least 10 digs or more.
Paola Mejias finished with a team high 13 digs while
Kyra Lycett,
Lindsey Korn and
Shelby Cheuvront recorded 12 and
Ryenn Mamrosch.
In addition, Mamrosch was all over the floor setting up her teammates recording a game and career high, 37 assists.

The Albright women's volleyball team will head on the road for the first time this season to take on Rosemont. The non-conference game is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 7.
