FREDERICK, MD. – The Albright men's basketball team (8-6, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) returned to action on Wednesday (Jan. 10) squaring off on the road against Hood College (11-2, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth). The Blazers remain perfect so far in conference play defeating the Lions 76-61.
With tonight's win Hood College has run their win streak to six straight overall and three straight in conference play. The 61 total points is the lowest scoring output for Albright this season.
After the first 20 minutes of play, Hood held a one-point advantage over Albright 39-38.
Hasson Massenburg has emerged as a solid scoring option for the Lions and the first half was no different as he poured in 10 first half points going 2-3 from beyond the three-point line. Massenburg collected two rebounds in a complete first half for the Albright forward.
Robert Mangum had two first half threes scoring seven points playing nearly the entire first half.
The Blazers defense stiffened up in the second half allowing only 23 second half points for Albright. Hood stretched their lead to 13 points with under 10 minutes to play and would ultimately close out the Lions on their home floor.
Mangum led all Albright scorers in tonight's game scoring 14 points including going 3-6 from three-point range. Mangum has scored 11 points or more in six straight games and has 10 such games this season scoring in double figures.
Massenburg ended the game with 12 points and has scored 12 points or more in four straight games. Eric Chamberlain filled up the box score scoring 10 points while adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Chris Kouemi chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.
