READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team (4-10, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) returned to action on Wednesday (Jan. 10) squaring off against Hood College (1-12, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth). Albright picked up their 21^st straight win over the Blazers with the 68-55 victory this evening.

With tonight's win the Lions have now won 21 straight over Hood College dating back to 2013. The average margin of victory for Albright is 18.5 points over the 21 games against Hood.

Albright was in control of the match from start to finish tonight never trailing across the 40 minutes of game time. The Lions started the game on a 17-2 run setting the tone early in the game.

The defense was outstanding all night for Albright holding Hood College to 34.3% shooting from the floor on the night. In the second quarter the Lions allowed only eight points from Hood while closing the half on a 6-0 run. Hood didn't score over the last 4:30 minutes of the second quarter seeing Albright take a 36-22 lead into halftime.

Julia Zakovitch continued her strong play in the opening half scoring nine points to lead Albright. Zakovitch finished the night with a career high 17 points. Zakovitch has scored 10 points in each of the past four games and six of the last seven. On the season, the sophomore forward has scored 10 points or more in nine games.

Albright stretched their lead to 22 points over the Blazers on back to back buckets by Orianna Edmond midway through the third quarter. The Blazers mounted a small comeback trailing 52-40 heading into the final frame.

Hood cut their deficit to seven points with 6:54 left in the game. Since that point, Albright went on a 12-6 run to secure their first MAC Commonwealth victory of the season 68-55 over Hood.

Zakovitch ended her career night collecting eight rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot. Mackenzie Dover scored 12 points including two threes while dishing out eight assists and grabbing eight rebounds.

Gigi Serrano finished with 10 points rounding out the Lions in double figures. Serrano was active on the defensive glass grabbing eight rebounds. Edmond ended the game with nine points and seven rebounds.

Jacey Petruno drilled two threes on the night while dishing out three assists.

The Lions shot 46.4% from the field and held advantages in second chance points, fast break points and bench points.
