READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team (4-0) has been playing well all fall season and today was no different as the Lions topped Penn State Harrisburg (1-2) on their home courts 5-1.
Prior to today's match, the MAC announced that
Elicia Aponte was named MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Aponte led the Lions to a 7-0 win over Penn State Berks last week going 2-0 in her two matches played. The Player of the Week honor is the first of Aponte's career.
Michelle Timothy won in straight sets in number two singles 6-1, 6-1.
Elicia Aponte was locked in a tight match but found herself on top when it was all said and done winning 5-7, 6-2, 10-4.
Allison Horick swept the competition in number four singles winning 6-0, 6-0.
Alania Smith was dominate in number five singles winning 6-0, 6-1.
Saba Soroush was on her way to victory winning the first set 6-1 but saw her match come to an end because of darkness.
Albright swept the doubles matches winning all three of them.
Alex Pancu and Horick won 6-4 in number one doubles, Timothy and Smith won in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-5) and
Valeria Sanchez and Aponte won via a sweep 6-0 in number three doubles.
