CHESTER, Pa. – Field Hockey opened up Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon on the road against Widener. The Pride escaped with a 1-0 win in overtime on their home turf.
Today's marked the Lions third overtime game of the season having played in overtime against Arcadia and William Patterson.
Through 60 minutes of regulation in today's game, there were no goals scored by either side. The Pride found the game winning goal just a minute into overtime courtesy of Widener's Juliana Sanchez. The goal was unassisted.
Despite the loss, the Albright defense did a fantastic job of keeping the hosts off the scoreboard through regulation.
The Lions defense successfully halted 17 penalty corners given to Widener. Goalkeeper
Kelsey McTaggart finished with seven total saves.
Kendall Smith tallied the Lions shot on the day looking to solve the formidable Widener defense.
