WAYNE, N.J. – Albright field hockey's (4-6)
Olivia Lorah scored in double overtime on a penalty stroke to give the Lions a 2-1 win over host William Patterson (2-6). Lorah's double overtime goal gives the Lions their first overtime win since 2019.
Albright has played in two overtime games this season and improved to 1-1 in such games with today's win.
The Lions conceded a goal early on in the game but were in complete control of the match after that. Albright outshot William Patterson 19 to three and held the penalty corner advantage at 20-9.
Chelsea Johnson tied the game at one for Albright off an assist by
McKena Cox. Johnson's fifth goal of the season came in the second period just before halftime. Cox's assist marks the first of the season for the sophomore.
The Albright defense was strong throughout the game but especially in the overtime period. The backline allowed zero shots from William Patterson in both overtime periods.
With a penalty shootout on the horizon,
Olivia Lorah scored the game winner for the Lions via a penalty stroke in double overtime. Lorah's goal was the first overtime goal of her career and her third game winning goal of the season.
Johnson led the charge with eight total shots and was followed by Lorah with four and Amanada Smith with three.
