Women’s Basketball’s Fourth Quarter Surge Comes Up Short

The Lions played their first game in front of their home crowd and battled to the end against the Neumann Knights.

READING, Pa. – The Albright Women's Basketball team (2-1) played their home opener against Neumann (3-1) on Tuesday night. A team effort to erase an eight point fourth quarter deficit would fall just short as the visiting Knights would go on to leave with a 57-52 win.

Mackenzie Dover, the reigning conference player of the week, led the way with a team high 15 points which included a game high three three-pointers made.

Orianna Edmond led all players with 14 rebounds and finished second on the team with 11 points to go along with four blocked shots.

Following the first 20 minutes of play the Lions would find themselves trailing 29-23 and looking to spark their offense.

The Lions were active in the rebound column tonight with Gigi Serrano tying for the team lead with five offensive rebounds to create multiple second and third chance opportunities for her teammates.

Julia Parmelee recorded a team high three steals as part of a six point night off the bench. Parmelee's layup in the final minute of play tied the game at 49-49.

The Knights would wind up going on an 8-3 run to leave with a win by a score of 57-52.
