READING, Pa. – Today's game needed extra time but quarterback
Chase Roberts found
Alden Stickler in the first overtime period on a 20-yard connection giving the Lions a 22-19 win over cross town rival Alvernia.
With today's win, Albright moves 2-6 and 1-6 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play while Alvernia falls to 0-8 and 0-7 in MAC play.
The win for Albright snaps a 32-game losing streak in conference play.
Defense was the story early on in today's game as the first half saw only one offensive touchdown. Albright scored the lone touchdown of the first half as Roberts found
John Boston out of the backfield connecting on what was a 25-yard touchdown play.
After a couple of Alvernia field goals and an Albright field goal, Albright found themselves on top after 30 minutes of play 9-6.
Midway through the third quarter, the game was all square at 9-9 after Alvernia converted on their third field goal of the game.
Early in the fourth quarter, Albright regained the lead on beautiful ball from Roberts to Stickler that went for a 41-yard touchdown down the middle of the field.
Both defenses stood tall until Alvernia scored in the games final minute to send the game into overtime. Today's overtime game was the first for the Lions since the 2022 Pretzel Bowl vs King's.
Alvernia got the ball to start overtime and was shutdown by the Lions defense forcing the Golden Wolves into taking and making a field goal.
Albright took the ball next and after a slew of penalties on both sides the Lions found themselves in an 2
nd and 18 situation. Offensive coordinator
Tom Pajic dialed up one more play which saw Roberts and Stickler combine on their second touchdown of the game walking off against Alvernia.
Roberts continues to shine for Albright under center and today was no different. The junior Lion was 22/35 for 255 yards and three touchdowns. Roberts is the first Albright quarterback to throw for three touchdowns in a single game since 2021 when Todd Shelly accomplished the same feat.
Stickler was excellent this afternoon going for five catches, 100 yards and two scores. Stickler is one the best pass catchers in all of the MAC having now two games this season with over 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Roberts found five different pass catchers today including
Ryan Green who caught five passes for 55 yards,
John Boston hauled in five catches for 53 yards and
Jeremiah Diaz who went for four catches and 29 yards.
Sebastian Robinson was a force all afternoon for the Lions on the defensive side of the ball. Robinson made nine tackles, six of which were of the solo variety while also being credited with one sack on the day.
Darien Osmun,
Angelo Hernandez and
Samuel Moratori anchored the Lions defense all having eight tackles in the game.
Recording a tackle for loss was
Jamaree Roberts who had 1.5 tackles for loss including a half sack.
Taylor Heflin was strong in the secondary earning two pass breakups on the day.
Angel Collazo caused the lone turnover of the day for the Lions forcing a fumble.

Albright will host Kings College next week on Saturday, November 9. The game will kick-off at 12:00 p.m. and will serve as the teams senior day.
