Football Hosts Senior Day on Saturday Against King’s

The Lions honored their seniors on Saturday afternoon before taking on the King’s College Monarchs in MAC action. King’s won by a final score of 41-6.

READING, Pa. – Albright hosted senior day on Saturday afternoon welcoming King's College to town. The Monarchs left Reading with a 41-6 win over the Lions. The loss drops Albright to 2-7 overall and 1-7 in conference play while King's improved to 8-1 overall and 8-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). King's win today earned the Monarchs the 2024 MAC crown and an automatic bid into the upcoming NCAA playoffs.

Prior to the start of today's game, the Lions football program took the time to honor the football and cheerleading seniors. The football seniors honored today were Antonio Bargiel, DeJohn Berry, Cody Carter, Shawn Coley Jr., Nazaiah Edwards, Troy Frederick, Alex Gardsy, Taylor Heflin, Andrew Meeley, Jesse Modican, Jacob Rideout and Dwayne Thompson.

The Albright cheerleading seniors include, Mya Maldonado, Taliah Erwin, Alyssa Mask, Alanah Naylor, Noelle Cruz and Tionna Richardson.

King's used two long touchdown throws in the first half to open up a lead over Albright. The Monarchs led 27-6 at the break.

Albright's first half touchdown came in the opening 15 minutes on a Kyle Richards touchdown reception. Richards made a great grab in the corner of the endzone for his first career touchdown. Chase Roberts was on the throwing end of the play giving him his sixth touchdown pass of the year.

The second half went the way of King's as the Monarchs used their strong running game to their advantage to pull away from Albright and eventually winning the game.

Alex Gardsy led the Albright rushing attack with 54 yards. Gardsy's best run of the game went for 21 yards as the senior quarterback weaved through the King's defense for a first down.

Richards was the go to guy this afternoon in the passing game ending with a career high in yards and receptions. Richards finished with seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. Alden Stickler was second on the team with four catches for 31 yards.

Samuel Moratori has established himself as a top tackling safety in the conference this season putting on another strong performance this afternoon. Moratori finished with a career high 15 tackles including a sack.

Seven additional Lions recorded a tackle for loss in the forms of Isaiah Spearman, Gavin Gallo, Sebastian Robinson, Jaquy'Ri Williams, Darien Osmun, Jamal Charles and Devin Gonzalez.

The Lions will conclude their 2024 season next weekend on the road at Lebanon Valley. The game will take place on Saturday, November 16 with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m.
