READING, Pa. – Men's basketball (1-0) begun their 2024-25 season on Friday night on the road at Penn State Berks (0-1). The Lions caught fire at the end of the first half to begin to pull away from the Nittany Lions eventually winning the game 86-63.
Today's game marked the season opener for both teams. Last season, Albright set a new program record for points in a game with 116 against Penn State Berks. With tonight's win, Albright moves to a perfect 16-0 against Penn State Berks in the all-time series.
The first 12 minutes of the game saw each team trading buckets with the score being tied at 20-20. From that point on Albright closed the first half on a 25-7 run to take a 45-27 lead into halftime.
Midway through the second half Albright saw their lead grow to a 29-point margin leading 68-39. The final 10 minuets would tick off the clock seeing Albright win their season opener by 23 points.
Eric Chamberlain did a little bit of everything tonight imposing his will on both ends of the floor. The senior guard led all scorers with 23 points while adding four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Phanique Dupree earned a new career high in points on an efficient shooting night from the floor. Dupree went for 17 points on 8-12 shooting. Dupree finished one rebound shy of double-double with nine while contributing on the defensive end having three blocks.
Akhir Keys and
Joey Callahan each made two threes finishing with eight and seven points, respectively.
Qadir Mitchell was active defensively setting a new career high in steals with three.
