Men’s Basketball Tops Stevenson 67-64 on the Road

The Albright men’s basketball team earned the season sweep over the Mustangs with today’s 67-64 victory on the road.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Albright men's basketball team (11-12, 4-8 MAC Commonwealth) came back after being down late in the game too Stevenson (8-15, 2-10 MAC Commonwealth) 67-64 on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions win today marks the third in the row over Stevenson and clinches the season sweep in the process.

Four different Lions got into double figures this afternoon led by Eric Chamberlain and Phanique Dupree who each scored 16 points.

For Dupree, the point total marks a new career high. Dupree went a perfect 2-2 from three while adding six rebounds and an assist. Chamberlain shot 50% from the floor and collected four rebounds and three steals.

Robert Mangum picked up his first double-double of the season going for 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mangum drilled three threes' while adding three assists on the afternoon.

Chris Kouemi nearly tallied a double-double of his own going for 10 points and nine rebounds.

It was a low scoring half but Albright was able to tough it out taking a 26-25 lead into intermission. Albright held Stevenson to 1-7 from deep in the first half.

Albright trailed 62-58 with 3:50 left to go. Mangum got the Lions within one after a made three pointer. Isaac LaPierre decided it was his turn to get in on action making a three of his own to put the Lions up 64-62.

Chamberlain put Albright up three (67-64) after a made free throw with 1:42 left. From there, the Lions defense stood tall to escape with a three-point victory on the road.

Albright made 10 free throws in the game compared to Stevenson's six, which proved to be the difference in the game.
 
 
Up Next:
Albright will head home for their remaining two regular season games beginning with Eastern on Tuesday, February 13. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start from the Bollman Center.
