Men’s Basketball Drops Home Game to Eastern 74-62

On a snowy day, the Albright men’s basketball team hosted Eastern University in their second of two meetings this season. The Eagles won by a final score of 74-62.

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's basketball team (11-13, 4-9 MAC Commonwealth) played host to Eastern (17-7, 9-4 MAC Commonwealth) on a snowy day throughout the east coast. The Eagles of Eastern won tonight's game by a final score of 74-62.

The loss snaps a two-game win streak for the Lions and gives the Eagles a season sweep over Albright. With the win, Eastern is now on the door step of qualifying for the MAC Commonwealth playoffs.

Eric Chamberlain led the way with 20 points for the Lions. Tonight's game marks the fifth time this season Chamberlain has scored over 20 points in a game. Chamberlain added two rebounds and three assists.

Phanique Dupree got into double figures this evening scoring 12 points. Dupree made two threes while recording six rebounds. The Albright forward was disruptive on the defensive end recording four blocks, the fifth such game this season recording four or more blocks.

Chris Kouemi was the third Lion in double figures this evening scoring 10 points and recording four rebounds. Koumei now has 15 games this season scoring 10 or more points.

The Lions led at halftime by nine 35-26 playing strong team defense. Eastern shot 27% from the floor in the first half.

Eastern began to catch fire in the second half. The Eagles started the half strong and took the lead at 49-48 with 11 minutes left on the clock. Eastern saw their lead stretch to 12 points with three minutes left in the game and escaped with a victory over the Lions on their home floor.

Robert Mangum scored seven points and hauled in a career high 14 rebounds giving Mangum back to back games with at least 12 rebounds.

Albright will conclude their season on Saturday, February 17 against #14 Widener on Senior Day. Albright seniors will be honored prior to the start of the game which is set for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
