Women’s Basketball Picks Up Road Win Over Stevenson 70-59; Sweeps Season Series

The Lions picked up the season sweep over the Mustangs this afternoon winning 70-59 on the Mustangs home floor.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Albright women's basketball team (9-14, 6-6 MAC Commonwealth) keeps their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) playoff hopes alive with a 70-59 win over Stevenson (6-17, 2-10 MAC Commonwealth) on the road. Today's win clinched the season sweep over the Mustangs for the Lions.  

The win today earns the season sweep over Stevenson marking their first season sweep against the Mustangs since 2018. Today's win also keeps the Lions playoff hopes alive.

Mackenzie Dover led a trio Lions in double figures this afternoon going for a game high 16 points. Dover went 2-3 from downtown while adding five rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Shakyla Mayo finished one-point shy of her career high scoring 12 points in today's game. Mayo had an efficient day from the floor shooting 50% while making one three. The first-year guard added five rebounds and two assists to her overall stat line.

Orianna Edmond tallied her second straight double-double and sixth overall this season. Edmond recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds in 28 minutes of game action. Edmond recorded a new career high in steals making five of them today's game.

The game was close throughout as Albright held a 36-32 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Lions went 5-6 from three-point range in the second quarter alone.

Albright saw their lead grow to as many as 15 points in the final quarter pulling away from the Mustangs. The Lions won every quarter this afternoon on their way to a convincing 70-59 win over Stevenson.

Kenedy Cooper and Gigi Serrano each scored eight points for Albright. Serrnao made two threes' while registering two assists and two steals.

The Lions shot 50% from three. Albright's bench unit outscored Stevenson's 30-19 and outscored them as team in the paint 34-14.

Albright will play in their last regular season road game of the season on Tuesday, February 13 against Eastern. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start from St. David's, Pa.
