READING, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team (8-14, 5-6 MAC Commonwealth) played host to York College (14-8.7-4 MAC Commonwealth) this evening (Feb. 7) for the second of two regular season meetings. The Spartans earned the season sweep over the Lions with a 66-50 victory this evening.
Orianna Edmond collected a double-double this evening going for 11 points and 10 rebounds. Edmond was well on her way to her fifth double-double of the season going for seven points and eight rebounds in the opening 20 minutes.
Mackenzie Dover led Albright in scoring going for 15 points in 30 minutes of game action. Dover added two rebounds, three assists and two steals to her overall stat line. Dover now has 16 games this season scoring at least 10 points in a game.
Defense was the story of the opening half as both teams locked down the opposing team's offense. The first field goal of the game came four minutes into the first quarter on a
Kenedy Cooper layup.
York's Breana Grim scored 16 points in the first half to give York a 33-21 led at the half. Grim would finish with a career high 23 points for the Spartans.
The Spartans maintained their halftime lead throughout the second half as the Lions never cut their deficit to under 10 points the rest of the way. York closed out Albright on the Lions home floor while giving themselves some breathing room in the MAC Commonwealth standings.
Shakyla Mayo scored nine points off the bench to led the Albright bench unit. Mayo drained one three in 18 minutes of game action.
Jacey Petruno chipped in with five points, including a made three pointer. Petruno added two rebounds, one assist and two steals to her overall stat line tonight.
